Edison, Vimit Energia, and Taoistic Solar Sign Photovoltaic Module Supply Agreement for Solar Plants in SicilyTags:Zhonghui New Energyphotovoltaic modulesThe Italian Photovoltaic Market

Objective of the Agreement: To promote the use of renewable energies and to facilitate pathways for the decarbonization of energy consumption by companies, aligning with the goals of the NRRP’s Green Revolution and Ecological Transition mission.

Edison, a leading company in the energy transition with 140 years of industrial experience, along with Vimit Energia, one of the largest distributors in the sector, and Taoistic Solar, a leading manufacturer of photovoltaic modules in China, have signed a Photovoltaic Module Supply Agreement for the construction of six solar plants in the Sicilian region of Italy. These plants will have a total installed capacity of approximately 170 MW and are expected to be operational by the end of 2025. They will generate around 240 GWh annually, preventing the emission of over 100,000 tonnes of CO₂equivalents per year.

"Italy is one of the most significant markets in our European renewables portfolio. The country benefits from strong solar radiation, windy regions, and a political commitment to advancing the expansion of renewable energy," says Arthur Dong, Head of Global Markets at Taoistic Solar. "We are very pleased to sign this agreement with industry leader Edison, supporting their ambitious decarbonization targets."

The six photovoltaic plants that will be built in southern Italy, with PV modules branded Taoistic Solar, has successfully got the non-recourse financing from four banks. With the financial support from important financial institutions, Edison has achieved significant financial advantages through these self-generating energy plants. Approximately 16.6% of the high-margin projects are equipped with these six renewable energy plants, which is five percentage points higher than other enterprises.

The four pv projects’ financing details are as follows:

- Lippone 44Mw (Sicily), financing secured on 21 March 2025 by Banca Intesa Sanpaolo.

- Madonna Buona 18.3Mw (Sicily), financing secured on 10 March 2025 by Banca UniCredit.

- Spatolidda 10.8Mw (Sicily), financing secured on 7 February 2025 by BPER Banca.

- Roccolino Soprano 22Mw (Sicily), financing secured on 20 February 2025 by Banca Nazionale del Lavoro (BNL).
