Japan¡¯s solar shipments fall 5% in fiscal Q4 ¡ª JPEATags£ºJapan  solar shipments  module 

Deliveries of PV cells module  s hit 1.7 GW in the three months to the end of December, down from 1.8 GW in the July-September period, according to the Japan  Photovoltaic Energy Association (JPEA).

Shipments of solar cells accounted for 565 MW of the total volume for the quarter.

Roughly 22.9% of quarterly panel deliveries were used in residential installations.

Polycrystalline PV modules accounted for 72% of all modules shipped in Japan in the third quarter.

Foreign manufacturers increased their share of the Japanese PV module market by roughly 3% from the preceding quarter to 46.4%.

Total shipments of solar equipment in the Japanese market by domestic companies edged down slightly to 921 MW.

Japanese companies produced a greater share of their domestically shipped PV equipment in foreign production facilities, accounting for about 3% more of total quarterly domestic shipments than in the preceding three-month period.

Only one of the 39 companies that the JPEA surveyed failed to respond. The companies included domestic PV suppliers such as Kyocera, Sharp Solar Frontier, as well as the local units of foreign players such as Yingli Green Energy, Trina Solar, Hanwha Q Cells REC Solar.
