German renewable energy firm juwi Group is eyeing up international business opportunities and is expecting around 50% of its business to be generated outside of Germany by 2015.

Currently, Germany represents juwi’s largest market. Martin Winter, CFO of juwi, commented: “Last year we installed 321MW in solar and 314MW in wind power all over the globe. With 350MW of installed capacity in Germany alone, juwi was in the pole position among all German project developers.”

The company also forecasts a change in its activities in terms of renewable energy technologies and expects wind power to represent an increasing share in its business.

Winter explains that solar power will also remain an important business avenue for the company. He states: “Worldwide, solar power also offers tremendous growth potential.”

Asia has been highlighted as an important and attractive market for the company’s solar business. juwi has been active in this market for two years and serves the growing markets in Thailand and Malaysia from its Singapore office. Over in Japan, the company formed a joint venture company called juwi Shizen Energy to develop business in the country.

Following a successful 2012, the company has a strong project pipeline for 2013 for both wind and solar. Among the mix is a 7MW PV plant  in Rustenburg, South Africa, which juwi is currently constructing.

In a recent report by IHS Research on the top engineering, procurement and construction contractors (EPC  ) in 2012, juwi was ranked fifth, one place up from 2011.
